Thermal insulation

A thermal insulator is a material that reduces or prevents the passage of heat between two media with different temperatures. Its main function is to maintain the desired temperature within a space, either by preventing heat from entering in hot climates or by preventing it from leaving in cold climates. Thermal insulators achieve this through their low thermal conductivityi.e. its ability to oppose the passage of heat.
